Drug Uses
Neurontin is used for healing of seizures associated with epilepsy. It can also be used for handling nerve pain associated with herpes zoster (shingles) infection (postherpetic neuralgia). Neurontin may also be used for other situation as advised by your doctor.
How Taken
Use Neurontin as advised by your doctor. Take Neurontin with or without a meal. Do not take an antacid containing aluminum or magnesium within two hours before you take Neurontin. Don't suddenly stop taking Neurontin. You can have an increased risk of side effects (eg, seizures). If you need to stop taking Neurontin or add a new drug, your doctor will gradually lower your dosage.
More Information
Neurontin can cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects can worsen if Neurontin is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Neurontin with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly negative tasks until you know how you respond to this drug. If your symptoms don't improve or if they worsen, visit your physician. Neurontin should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than advised by your physician.
