Drug Uses
Imodium is used for treating and controlling diarrhea, including traveler's diarrhea, and reducing the volume of discharge from an ileostomy (a surgical opening in the wall of the intestines). It may also be used for other situations as directed by your physician.
How Taken
Take Imodium as recommended by your doctor. To avoid stomach upset take Imodium with a food intake. It is suggested to drink extra fluids while you are taking Imodium and while you have diarrhea. Don't use for more than [[two|2] days unless advised by a physician.
Additional Information
Imodium may cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may worsen if Imodium is taken with alcohol or certain other drugs. Take Imodium with caution. Don't drive or perform other possibly dangerous tasks until you know how you respond to this medicine. If your symptoms don't improve or if they worsen, visit your physician. This pill should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than directed by your physician.
